Privacy Policy

Last updated October 11, 2026 · Effective October 11, 2026

The short version

  • Forgeter reads your chats for one job: to remember plans, dates and to-dos for you. Those suggestions are shown only to you.
  • Forgeter asks before it acts. It won't text, call or book anything for you without your OK.
  • We don't sell your personal information.
  • Location is used for place reminders and location sharing. You can turn it off anytime in Settings.
  • You can delete your messages, your memories or your whole account.

1. Who we are

Forgeter is a messaging app with a built-in AI assistant, offered by Forgeter, Inc., 400 Boulevard of the Americas, Lakewood, NJ 08701 ("Forgeter", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Forgeter app and forgeterai.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details. Your phone number, which we verify with a 6-digit text code, plus the name, profile photo, background, "About" text and birthday you add. If you continue with LinkedIn, we receive your name, profile photo and email address from LinkedIn.
  • Messages and media. The messages, photos, voice notes, documents, polls, comments and status posts you send, and the reactions you add.
  • Plans and memories. Scheduled messages, reminders, place reminders, important dates such as anniversaries and graduations, and the items Forgeter remembers for you.
  • Requests to the assistant. What you type or say to Forgeter, such as "Remind me to buy wine at Walmart".
  • AI calls. When you ask Forgeter to call someone, we collect the number you want called, the questions you want asked and the answers we receive. If you turn on recording, we also keep the call recording and its transcript.
  • Support and waitlist. Your name, email address and anything you write to us.

Information from your device, with your permission

  • Contacts. Phone numbers in your address book, used to show which of your contacts already use Forgeter.
  • Location. Your precise location. Place reminders need location set to "Always" so Forgeter can remind you when you arrive at or leave a store. We also use your location when you share it, or your live location, in a chat.
  • Camera, photos and microphone. Used only when you take or send a photo, record a voice note, or speak to the assistant.
  • Notifications. A push token so we can deliver messages and reminders.

Information collected automatically

  • Device model, operating system, app version, language, time zone and IP address.
  • How you use the app, such as features opened, crash reports and performance data.
  • On the free plan, how you interact with ads, such as views, taps and hides.

Information from others

  • Other people may share your phone number, birthday or messages with you on Forgeter, or add you to a group.
  • Apple and Google tell us whether you have an active Forgeter Plus subscription. We never receive your card number.

3. How we use your information

  • To run Forgeter: deliver messages, calls and status posts, sync your chats across devices and keep your account secure.
  • To power the assistant: spot plans, dates and to-dos, send reminders at the right time and place, send scheduled messages, and carry out the calls and tasks you approve.
  • To keep important dates: remind you of birthdays and dates your contacts share with you, and show your dates to contacts if you choose to share them.
  • To personalize your feed, including the catch-up that links news to your plans.
  • To show ads on the free plan and measure how they perform.
  • To process Forgeter Plus subscriptions and restore purchases.
  • To answer support requests and send service messages, such as verification codes.
  • To keep people safe: prevent spam, fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service.
  • To fix bugs and improve Forgeter.
  • To meet legal obligations.

4. How Forgeter's AI uses your chats

Forgeter processes the content of your chats automatically to find things worth remembering, like "Dinner with Evelyn, Friday 7 PM". These suggestions appear only on your device. The other people in the chat don't see what Forgeter suggests to you.

Forgeter can text, call and set reminders for you, but it checks with you before it acts. When it places an AI call, it introduces itself as an AI assistant calling for you. If you turn on recording, it tells the other person the call is recorded.

We use AI service providers, e.g. names of model providers to process requests. They may process your content only to provide the service to us. We do not use the content of your private messages to train AI models.

AI can make mistakes. Check important details before you rely on them.

5. Who can see your information

  • The people you talk to. Messages, media and locations you share go to the people in that chat or group. Status posts go to the audience you choose and disappear after 24 hours.
  • Your contacts. Your name, photo and "About" text. Your birthday and important dates are shown only if you turn on sharing. Turn off "Show my age" and contacts see only the day and month.
  • People Forgeter calls for you. They hear your questions and know they are talking to an AI assistant.
  • Service providers. Companies that help us run Forgeter, for hosting and storage, text message delivery, AI processing, push notifications, analytics, crash reporting and customer support. They act on our instructions.
  • Advertising partners. On the free plan only, we share limited information, such as device type, approximate location and ad interactions, to show and measure ads. We never share your messages with advertisers.
  • App stores. Apple and Google process subscription payments under their own privacy policies.
  • For legal reasons. When we believe in good faith that the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of people and of Forgeter.
  • If our business changes. As part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. Ads on the free plan

The free plan shows ads in your feed. Ads are labeled "Sponsored". Tap "About this ad" to see why you are seeing it, hide it, or report it. Forgeter Plus has no ads.

7. How long we keep your information

  • We keep your account information while your account is active.
  • Status posts disappear from view after 24 hours.
  • When you delete a message for everyone, we remove it from the chat. Copies others have saved or forwarded are outside our control.
  • AI call recordings and transcripts are kept for 30 days unless you delete them sooner.
  • When you delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days. Backups are cleared within 90 days. We may keep limited records longer when the law requires it or to prevent abuse.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Permissions. Turn notifications, contacts and location on or off in your phone's settings or in Forgeter's Settings.
  • What contacts see. Hide your birthday or age, and choose who sees each status post, in Edit profile.
  • Memories. Review, edit or delete what Forgeter remembers from your profile.
  • Feed. Choose your feed sources, hide ads or upgrade to Plus for no ads.
  • Delete your account in Settings or by emailing us.

Depending on where you live, including California, the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict some uses of it, and to appeal a decision we make about your request. If you are in the EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you (running Forgeter), your consent (for example, location and contacts access), our legitimate interests (security, improving the app, ads on the free plan) and legal obligations.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure. Keep your phone and verification codes private, and tell us right away if you think your account was accessed without your permission.

10. Children

Forgeter is not for children under 13, or under 16 where local law requires a higher age. We don't knowingly collect information from children under these ages. If you believe a child has given us information, email privacy@forgeterai.com and we will delete it.

11. International transfers

We are based in New Jersey, in the United States, and may process your information there and in other countries where our service providers operate. When we transfer information out of the EEA or UK, we use safeguards approved by law, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
